Toy Piece

2025-Present, Performance, 30min
Toy Piece is a performance for sound-making children’s toys. Part performance art, part regression, Toy Piece is a playful and chaotic exploration of the sonic potential of kid-e-waste. Rather than circuit-bending, the artist chooses to modify the toys simply by combining them together, often through crude taped together assemblages such as a monster truck pulling xylophones, a chainsaw melodica, and two walking pigs playing a tinker-piano.

As the announcement tape declares at the start of each performance:

THESE TOYS ARE UNADULTERATED. THEY EXIST IN THEIR RAW AND PURE FORM. THE SOUNDS THEY ARE ABOUT TO MAKE WERE DESIGNED BY THEIR MANUFACTURERS. SOME HAVE DEGRADED OVER TIME — GOD IS THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS BENT THESE CIRCUITS
